Over the course of a very congenial few hours last Saturday we were entertained by music, storytelling and a variety of games, while the dry bar kept us fed and watered. Guitarist Ed Harkness sang self-penned songs reminiscent of the English whimsy of Nick Drake or Robert Wyatt. The (controversially monikered) Pitt Street Prattlers, comprising Amrita, Jonathan and Stuart, told stories of shipwrecks and of strange, surreal events in the far, frozen north of Labrador. And home made sausage rolls and smoothies were on offer at the bar.

The author played darts for the first time this millennium. Subbuteo, once a feature of many a child’s bedroom, now a rare sighting, also featured, along with jenga, chess etc etc
