Members of the Tight Lines and Calm Minds group arranged a 48-hour fishing spectacular from Gorleston-on-Sea pier earlier this month to raise awareness and money for MensCraft.

The fundraiser involved the weekend-long fishing competition, as well as a raffle for the group members. The event idea was conceived and coordinated by Sarah Jane Humphrey, moderator for the Tight Lines and Calm Minds Facebook group, who travelled up from Sussex to the east coast to oversee and join-in the activity which saw the group sustain their fishing through the day and night.

Reflecting on the experience, Sarah said: “It was our pleasure to raise the money for the charity and… lovely to meet some of the Pit Stop members. The weather was lovely that weekend and I think I’ve finally caught up with my sleep now. I was awake for about 61-hours in total!”

We were glad that some of our local Great Yarmouth Pit Stop members were also present at stages over the weekend to lend some support, encouragement and take photos of the action, along with local area coordinator and MensCraft’s angling authority, Nick Buck.

MensCraft is immensely grateful and humbled by to everyone who participated, as well as those who donated, bought raffle tickets and gave support to this caring and committed group of fishing enthusiasts. Special thanks to Sarah for her inspiration and dedication in bringing the exploits together so successfully.
