What is The Pit stop?

The Pit Stop brings men together through a variety of activities to build social connection, friendship and a sense of belonging. We do not charge entry fees and we ask few questions.

Do take our word for it, come and try it for yourself.

Sessions are held in Norwich, Kings Lynn, Cromer, Great Yarmouth, Dereham and North Walsham, see the column on the right for locations and times.

We also welcome new ideas for future development, so if you’re interested in developing activities – let us know.

For Norwich contact Colin Howey on 07784 307970 or email for more information.

For Great Yarmouth and Waveney contact Nick Buck via email for more information.

Regular Activities include:

Charles Ison is a self taught artist using water colours, pencils and acrylics. Simple techniques for the beginner and practiced alike.

Graeme Malone is experienced in the ancient craft of whittling: using carving knives and axes to work freshly cut green wood. Graeme will show you how to use these tools safely and effectively and everybody gets the hang of it by the end of their first session.

Film Night
A number of men spend an evening a month together with a film at a local cinema followed by a drink afterwards. If interested please contact:

Board Games
Once a month we have an evening of Board Games at the centre – we have a whole variety of different games to choose from. For future dates contact:

Model Making
Mike Stopp has been making models from kits for over 20 years. Mike’s happy to help someone get started or to natter with the regulars around the modelling table. Making models can be very therapeutic and satisfying.

Money Advice
Rick from Equal Lives comes once a month to provide 1-to-1 advice on budgeting, investments and benefits.

IT – computers & phones
Once a month the Digital Inclusion Project provides us with a volunteer to help with computing or social media issues.

Each month we have a health professional visit to give a talk or offer advice on different health issues.

We also offer other activities every session including games such as chess, backgammon, cards, dominoes, and scrabble. There’s also 1-to-1 advice on topics like health, money and computing.

Heritage Walks
Led by local historians or naturalists we gain some gentle exercise whilst visiting various places of interest around the city.

Join us and others at Park Runs on a Saturday at 9am. “I thought I was going to die, but I did it. I thought I was having a heart attack but it was only a stitch!”.

Parkrun is a fun, free event organised by volunteers for the benefit of everyone.
