“Life is a rollercoaster” is a fitting metaphor for each of our journeys with our mental health. I have always been passionate about supporting people through painful and difficult times, which we all experience during our lives. My hope is that I can provide a non-judgemental space for people to explore their thoughts and feelings, so that they can feel greater contentment and choose how they respond to life’s challenges.
I started working for MensCraft in October 2020 when I was experiencing significant difficulties within my own family, which was hugely impactful on my own mental wellbeing. With hindsight, I can recognise that this period has enabled me to empathise and support others during their tough times. If met with kindness, understanding and collaboration, growth can come from adversity, and I have seen this happen many times.
Before MensCraft, I spent 20 years working in human resource management. I was made redundant in 2018 and wanted to do something different where I could have a deeper connection with people. I moved into teaching adults HR and School Business Manager Qualifications until 2020. One of my proudest achievements is supporting homeless people back into the workplace, some of whom progressed into management roles.
Outside of work I am a mum, daughter and friend. I relax by walking my dog, reading and spending time with family and friends. I am interested in restoring my home (a never-ending job) and food. I love music as I feel it has the power to transform our moods. I also love to travel – with a backpack rather than a suitcase – and have visited over 16 countries.
