I am a lecturer in the School of Social Work and Sociology at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. For over 15 years I have been involved in research about fathers, fatherhood and father inclusion – not just in social work services, but across society. In recent years, I have led projects looking at fathers’ experiences of child protection services and of local authority care proceedings, and also an evaluation of the Caring Dads programme. 

I teach and supervise social work and sociology students at undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD level. I also do a lot of training and public engagement work based on my research, including the acclaimed theatre show ‘How’s Your Father?’, created in partnership with MensCraft, Norfolk County Council, and theatre director Simon Floyd. 

I have a background of working and volunteering in the field of family support and was Chair of Trustees for Homestart in Swaffham for several years. MensCraft is a unique and much needed organisation providing valuable services for men and their families across Norfolk (and beyond). I am proud to be part of this work.
