Singing in a group is proven to have a wide range of health and wellbeing benefits. It helps form social bonds, relieves stress and even stimulates the immune response. Singing – the vocal production of musical tones – pre-dates language and has served as a tool for storytelling, healing, and spirituality across time and cultures. With so much going for it, we’ve decided to start our own choir!
And who better to lead us in song than Joe Ringer, a vocalist, musical director, arranger and producer from Norwich who has spent the last 10 years heading up The JRB, East Anglia’s most popular event band. Alongside the band, Joe has created numerous theatre shows including Everybody Dance: The Best of Disco, Shaken & Stirred: The Best of Bond, and The Burt Bacharach Songbook which can be found playing in theatres around the country – along with his 30-piece Anthems Ibiza Orchestra.
Joe has worked on many productions as musical director and vocal coach including Avenue Q, Spamalot and Spring Awakening and has consulted on many theatre shows and at Potters Leisure Resort. In 2020, he formed Joe Ringer Events and created the family shows The Monster Club, Kidz Pop Party and Xmas Pop Party which have since played in Norwich to critical acclaim.
Joe has a passion for vocal arranging and choral groups and is so excited to be leading the new MensCraft Male Choir in Norwich, which starts on 15 July and runs for eight weeks. Joe said:
“Singing can really bring people together, create a community and help confidence and mental health, which are things that are so important amongst men in 2025. I’m so excited to start the group and to meet people from all walks of life and of all abilities. You don’t need to have any experience of singing to join the group, we’re just looking for people who would like to meet some great people and have a bit of a sing”.
