Fathers and families across Norfolk will soon be able to access a new programme of parenting support from MensCraft, following grants of over £300,000 from the National Lottery, the Trusthouse Charitable Foundation and the Charles Hayward Foundation.
We are now in a position to run DadsOnside, a three-year programme across Norfolk for men who are struggling with fatherhood and/or are at risk of losing meaningful contact with their children.
We will be offering one-to-one advice and group support for men around all aspects of parenting, whether they are a new father, having difficult relationships with older children or step-children or going through the process of family separation. We will also be delivering a new series of Caring Dads programmes which promotes positive parenting for men who are harsh, abusive, neglectful of their children or have exposed them to domestic violence.
Tim Allard, MensCraft’s Development Manager said ‘Many of the men who come to us for support tell us their family is the most important thing to them, but they sometimes struggle to be good dads or supportive partners. By supporting men to be better dads, we not only improve their relationships, mental health and self-esteem, but outcomes for children and wider family improve too.’
We will soon be recruiting for two new positions to deliver the Dads Onside programme so keep an eye on our Join our Team page for further information.
