Journey towards Independence – Mentoring Programme for teenage boys – Seeking male Mentors to work with MensCraft and Apricot Centre Wellbeing Service.  This is paid work based on an hourly rate

In collaboration with MensCraft, the Apricot Centre well-being service is developing mentoring approaches for teenage boys who are moving towards adulthood or independence. This would first involve a one-to-one mentor, spending time during a year, with the young person tuning into their interests and life directions, accompanying them with support, developing trust and good relationship. Mentoring sessions may involve all manner of activities hobbies crafts music sports which resonate with the interests of young person. Mentors would be regularly supervised by practitioners from the Apricot Centre. Towards the end of the period of mentoring there would be celebration/activity days which will take place in nature-based environments in Norfolk, with groups of young people and their mentors participating. Mentors will need to have experience of working with/supporting teenager with challenging backgrounds (trauma, loss, attachment, special needs).

Hours would be flexible depending on the Young Person’s availability. Payment £22.50 per hour, including travel time. Norwich based work. All mentors on this programme will receive a regular (unpaid) supervision to help them reflect upon the work and develop practice.
